Golden Sunset
These photos were taken during sunset on my trip to Tokyo. The sunset gives these images a unique gold tone, reflecting on every surface. It is as though the image is filled with warmth and happiness. Due to the nature of sunsets, these images were taken in a situation with a large lighting ratio. This causes a problem as either the sunlight portion will be over-exposed or the streets will be under-exposed. I resolved this issue by switching to the highlight-weighted metering mode in my camera, so the sky is as bright as it can be without risking overexposure. In the editing, I made sure to magnify the rays of light shining down on Earth to make the sunsets more impactful. I also adjusted the exposure to make the images look more natural and vibrant. When thinking of sunsets, we often think about warmth, happiness, and the many good things in life. However, associated with sunsets is the sad reality that all these good things can only last for so long before it is replaced by darkness. As Tang poet 李商隐 summarizes: 夕阳无限好,只是近黄昏.
